Scott D. Chilko brings over 22 years of elite operational and leadership experience to Paws on Mold, combining precision, discipline, and proven detection expertise to help homeowners identify hidden mold with confidence.

A retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8) and former Military Working Dog (MWD) Kennel Master, Scott spent the majority of his career training, handling, and managing detection dogs in high-risk, high-consequence environments around the world. His background includes deployments and assignments across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, where accuracy, reliability, and accountability were mission-critical.

A retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8) and former Military Working Dog (MWD) Kennel Master, Scott spent the majority of his career training, handling, and managing detection dogs in high-risk, high-consequence environments around the world. His background includes deployments and assignments across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, where accuracy, reliability, and accountability were mission-critical.

Scott is a certified Military Working Dog handler and trainer, with extensive experience in odor detection, quality control, and operational readiness. Over his career, he supervised and maintained large canine programs, ensured strict training standards, and led teams responsible for safeguarding personnel, facilities, and critical infrastructure. He later served in senior leadership roles overseeing canine operations, anti-terrorism programs, and training pipelines for hundreds of handlers.

At Paws on Mold, Scott applies the same methodical training standards and operational rigor used in military detection programs to residential and commercial mold inspections. His focus is on non-invasive, accurate, and unbiased mold detection, providing clients with reliable information they can trust before remediation decisions are made.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Homeland Security, is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, and has received multiple military commendations for leadership and operational excellence.

He lives in Florida with his wife, Catherine, and their family. When clients work with Paws on Mold, they’re not just getting a dog—they’re getting decades of proven detection experience, professional integrity, and a commitment to doing the job right.

Robert Schroder

Handler & Canine Specialist

Robert Schroder is an experienced law enforcement professional with over 30 years of service, currently working as an Explosive Canine Handler for a South Florida law enforcement agency. A Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officer since 1991, Robert has dedicated much of his career to training and mentoring other officers. He specializes in explosive detection, and public safety at high-profile events, including Presidential visits and major dignitary events.

Robert Schroder is an experienced law enforcement professional with over 30 years of service, currently working as an Explosive Canine Handler for a South Florida law enforcement agency. A Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officer since 1991, Robert has dedicated much of his career to training and mentoring other officers. He specializes in explosive detection, and public safety at high-profile events, including Presidential visits and major dignitary events.

With over 25 years of experience working with canines in personal protection, detection, obedience, and decoy training, Robert is deeply passionate about training, troubleshooting, and helping handlers refine their skills. He thrives on identifying challenges and developing positive solutions to ensure both handlers and canines reach their full potential.

Robert has extensive training from Lackland Air Force Base, the MSA Canine Training Institute, and numerous other institutions. Additionally, he trains service dogs for veterans, customizing programs to address specific needs and ensuring safety for both dogs and handlers. Known for his problem-solving skills, strong communication, and organizational abilities, Robert continues to play a key role in advancing the capabilities of canine handlers.

Rodney Watson

Handler & Canine Specialist

Rodney Watson is a highly experienced canine professional and U.S. Army veteran who served as a Military Police Officer and Military Working Dog (MWD) Handler. He brings over 10 years of hands-on experience training, developing and instructing handlers, and teaching Military Working Dogs across specialized disciplines including narcotics detection, explosives detection, bed bug detection, and patrol skillsets. His background includes not only preparing dogs for operational success, but also training handlers to communicate, manage, and perform effectively alongside their canine partners.

Rodney Watson is a highly experienced canine professional and U.S. Army veteran who served as a Military Police Officer and Military Working Dog (MWD) Handler. He brings over 10 years of hands-on experience training, developing and instructing handlers, and teaching Military Working Dogs across specialized disciplines including narcotics detection, explosives detection, bed bug detection, and patrol skillsets. His background includes not only preparing dogs for operational success, but also training handlers to communicate, manage, and perform effectively alongside their canine partners.

Rodney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Forensics from the University of Maryland, providing a strong foundation in behavior analysis, learning theory, and applied problem-solving that supports both canine performance and handler effectiveness.

Rodney is a valued asset to Paws on Mold, where he aims to help grow the company by applying his extensive K9 training knowledge and development experience to support reliable, effective detection work. His goal is to help deliver the highest level of service to clients by improving canine search and location capabilities, assisting families in identifying potential mold concerns within their day-to-day living environments to help create safer, and healthier homes.

Jack Lyons is part of the Paws on Mold team, leading the company’s social media, podcast content, and online outreach. He helps educate Florida homeowners on the risks of hidden mold by creating engaging, informative content that highlights real inspections, mold detection training, and prevention tips.

Sean Galavan

Co-Founder & Trainer

Sean Galavan is a disabled combat veteran and Wounded Warrior who served two tours with the United States Marine Corps. His career working with dogs began during his time in the Marines, where he developed a deep respect for K9 detection work and the discipline it requires.

Sean went on to further his education and hands-on training through AK9I and in the field with KIXK9, CSK9, and the TSA. His expertise in explosive detection handling has placed him in high-stakes environments, safeguarding presidents and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. Alongside this work, Sean built a successful dog training business specializing in working line dogs and aggressive behavior modification. His commitment to dogs extends beyond training, having rescued and re-homed countless dogs over the years.

While determined to serve his country, he was nearly denied the opportunity due to a misdiagnosis of asthma, later traced back to toxic mold exposure in the barracks where he was living. As co-founder and lead trainer of Paws on Mold, Sean brings that same sense of service to families across Florida and beyond. His daily focus on the procurement, imprinting, and training of the dogs is the cornerstone of the company’s success, ensuring every detection dog meets the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. He lives in South Florida with his wife Ashley and their two children.

Tim Lyons

Co-Founder & Handler

Tim’s story began more than 21 years ago with his son Jack, his German Shepherd Hans, and the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma. During Jack’s first year of life, Tim found himself in and out of hospitals, relying on steroids and breathing machines as his son struggled with severe respiratory issues. In 2004, after their home flooded, Tim and Hans swam to safety and were placed in a FEMA trailer for temporary housing. Within a month, Jack’s symptoms completely disappeared.

Tim’s story began more than 21 years ago with his son Jack, his German Shepherd Hans, and the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma. With more than 30 years in hospitality as an award-winning chef and restauranteur, Tim built his career around precision, care, and service. That same commitment now drives his work at Paws on Mold, where he works tirelessly to deliver the most accurate results and the highest level of professionalism.
